Pasighat, May 24: There is severe water clogging at the Advance Landing Ground, Pasighat construction site due to incessant rain of the last three days.
The ALG, where half of the work has already been completed, faced flood like situation in and around the construction site.
The Pasighat ALG which is being constructed by Nagarjuna Construction Company is important for air connectivity for both defense and civilian purpose.
According to the PRO ALG, the work which started a year back is almost in its final stages but with the advent of monsoon, construction process has disrupted and the momentum of work has slowed down considerably.
Water clogging is a common feature in Pasighat as it is situated in the low lying areas with heavy to very heavy rain in monsoon season.

State says goodbye to outgoing Governor
ITANAGAR, May 24: The state government gave a ceremonial farewell to outgoing Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma and the First Lady with state honour at a function organized at Golden Jubilee Banquet hall here on Saturday evening.
Sharma has been appointed as the Governor of Mizoram and he will be replaced by JP Rajkhowa as the new Governor of the state. Rajkhowa is slated to take oath on June 1.
While delivering his farewell address, the outgoing Governor said that the beautiful and resourceful state (of Arunachal Pradesh) gifted with abundant natural resources could be transformed into a model state. He appealed all to join hands together to achieve the desired goal.
Appreciating the growing responsiveness among the youths, he opined for channelizing the youth power to create a rich pool of human resource for a vibrant and self sustained state. He appealed to the masses to check the alarming drug addiction which is gradually engulfing the young souls.
He was all praises for Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and his colleagues for taking his advises on positive note and working on it for the betterment of the state.
The Governor said that he and his family would never forget the love and warmth showered on them by the people of Arunachal.
In his speech, Tuki thanked the outgoing Governor and the First Lady for their support and guidance provided to the state and its people. He specifically mentioned the explicit concern of the Governor particularly for uplifting the people’s living standard in remote and border areas. He also attributed Sharma’s persistent efforts to establish railway links and Sainik School and expediting the road projects.
Tuki also assured to accomplish the initiative of the Governor for a Martyrs memorial in Itanagar for those who laid their lives in guarding the nation’s border and asserted that it would be one of the best in the world.

NE’s first satellite news channel goes off air
EMFA expresses concern over closure of the channel
GUWAHATI, May 24: Electronic Media Forum Assam (EMFA) has expressed concerns over the official closure of Focus NE (formerly NE TV) and urged the management to compensate its employees according to the existing laws.
The management of the TV channel declared the closure of the channel, which was launched in March 2004, on the evening of May 22 and since then the telecast of Focus NE was ceased.
Identified as the first satellite news channel of the region, Focus NE beamed news bulletins in over 16 recognised languages and dialects and was owned by Naveen Jindal, a former Congress Parliamentarian from Kurukshetra, Haryana. The chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd lately got the ownership of the vibrant news channel from another Congress veteran, Matang Sinh, who was a Union minister in PV Narsimha Rao’s cabinet.

Focus NE was one of five Guwahati based ‘free to air’ satellite news channels namely News Live, DY 365, Pratidin Time and Prag News, which catered the needs of 50 million populace of Northeast India. The alienated region is however waiting for a new satellite channel (Assam Talks) and revamping of another news channel (News Time Assam) very soon.
In another development, the EMFA condemned the incident of assault on a city based scribe.
The EMFA urged the authority to take appropriate actions against the offenders, who had physically attacked Mukut Roy of Dainik Agradoot on 22 May 2015, when he was on a journalistic assignment. The EMFA reiterated its old demand for a special law to protect the media persons on duty across the country.

Importance of drainage system
Even before the full impact of monsoon is felt, the condition of roads across state, in particular capital complex looks horrible. Already dilapidated roads are getting worse due to impact of continuous rainfall. Numerous lakes have sprouted in various roads of capital. Most of the problems are arising due to non construction of proper drainage system. Also stakes holders including PWD and Urban Development department never carries out maintenance of the existing drains.
Usually authorities of the majority of Indian cities carry out cleaning of drains before the arrival of monsoon season. This is a very crucial step as the cleaning of drain helps in easy flow of water during heavy rain. However in our state authorities never carries out such exercise and this is one of the major factors contributing to the destruction of roads. PWD and UD department should give maximum impetus to proper drainage system while constructing new roads. They also need to urgently carry out repairing work of the existing drains.

A tragic incident of electrocution

It was painful news that four human lives have been lost at a time due to electrocution,
in paddy fields near Wak village in between Aalo-
On the tragic incident, which took place on 19th may 2015, I would like make a personal comment. It seems that it could be due to carelessness and negligence of staffs working on the spot. Precautions might have not been taken or it could be due to lack of proper supervision. The system might have not been maintained.
In present days, it is also observed that there is no seriousness in duty. There may be various reasons why the people are not serious in their duties. The employees have no time to mix up with the day to day life of common public, during duty hours but they do it, especially, the duty of electricity is concerned. The duty of dealing with electricity is round the clock. Public require electricity for 24 hours. The duty of an electrical engineer in fields is 24 hours and there is no break in duty.
Let’s be serious ourselves in our own duties to avoid such incidents and let’s take a lesson from it and hope that such tragic incident will not happen again.

Paint it with Arunachalee colour
Dear Editor,
Being a regular reader of Arunachal Times, I want to take this opportunity to reach out to some of the constant writers in the Reader’s Forum of your esteemed daily. It has been noticed that some writers are more concerned in national issues, football, cricket and other issue which is of no relevance to our state and her current problems. Arunachal Pradesh, ambassador of problems, itself has lots of issues to reckon with.
Unnecessary filling the space of Readers Forum is an irritation to one’s eye. Please avoid, as there are many national paper in India to listen to your ideas on national issue, write there.
I would prefer to read an article written by Government’s cabinet minister or opposition parties and business tycoon or common public’s view on the matter from national paper rather than reading it from our local daily which I expect to be exclusively local. However, if you still want to write on national issue, I request you to paint it on Arunachalee colour, analyse the issue so as to show its effect and influence on Arunachal Pradesh.
The purpose of writing is to communicate: a thought, an idea, a sentiment, a fact. The more concrete, concise and easy these elements in a communication, the more precise, the more rewarding they are to reader.
Some writers are writing for themselves and select few thereby reducing the essence of their own beautiful ideas to bare minimum, as their unnecessary use of tough vocabulary keeps the mass at bay with their original idea.
I know, my last two paragraph will stir up a hornet’s nest but, please dont use “pulchritudinous” in place of simple word “beauty”.
